Therafit and its Director Darin McCarthy Recognized with Three Best Award for Physical Therapy

Award recognizing best local businesses recognizes Therafit and its director based on customer reviews, satisfaction, trust, cost, and general excellence

LOWELL, MA – Jan. 19, 2021 – Therafit, a full-service orthopedic, sports and aquatic physical therapy center in Lowell, Massachusetts, is announcing that it and its director, Darin McCarthy have been recognized with a Three Best Rated® Award for Physical Therapy.

Therafit has been providing orthopedic and sports injury care since 1985. McCarthy is recognized for his emphasis on TMD, spinal and sacroiliac dysfunction as well as sports injury rehabilitation; providing on-site labs to UMASS Lowell students, and offering dry needling, with certification from Dry Needling Institute of the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy, for the treatment of painful musculoskeletal and myofascial conditions, as well as cervicogenic headaches. His business has been recognized as a Best Business by Three Best Rated since 2018.

McCarthy currently holds his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in Virginia; Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell, where he was a recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award from the College of Health Professions, and Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He is also a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Athletic Trainer. His training in orthopedics includes the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Ohio State University Medical Center and as an intern with the New England Patriots Football Team. Formerly, he was a physical therapist in San Diego, where he completed the majority of his extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy with an emphasis on TMD, spinal and sacroiliac dysfunction as well as sports injury rehabilitation. While in San Diego he was employed in outpatient orthopedics, then serving as the director of outpatient services for a large multi-center orthopedic group before relocating back to Massachusetts. He is a frequent guest-lecturer to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program and an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association in the orthopedic, private practice and aquatic therapy sections.
