Darin McCarthy, MSPT, OCS - Physical Therapist / Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
Darin graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1996 where he was a recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award from the College of Health Professions. He received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1994 as well as becoming board certified as an Athletic Trainer in 1994. His over 15 years of training in orthopedics includes work at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Ohio State University Medical Center and as an intern with the New England Patriots Football Team. His employment experience includes being a staff physical therapist with Therafit upon graduation in 1996. He then relocated to San Diego, California, where, for several years, he completed the majority of his extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy through the Ola Grimsby Institute with an emphasis on spinal and sacroiliac dysfunction as well as sports injury rehabilitation. There he was employed at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group as a physical therapist in outpatient orthopedics and then served as the clinic director for E & L and Associates PT and then director of outpatient services for PRN Orthopedic, Sports & Aquatic Physical Therapy before moving back to Massachusetts in 2003 for the opportunity to co-own Therafit. Darin is currently a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association in the orthopedic, private practice and aquatic therapy sections.
Nicole Bartley, MSPT - Physical Therapist
Nicole received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1999. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Rehabilitation Sciences from Assumption College in 1994 where she also was a stand out on Assumption College's Soccer Team. She has had extensive post-graduate training in orthopedics and sports since completing her education.
Erica Compagnone, DPT – Physical Therapist / Aquatic Therapy Director
Erica received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2000. She went on to graduate with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2003. Since her graduation, Erica has been part of the Therafit staff and is the director of aquatic therapy. Erica’s post-graduate coursework has been specialized in aquatic physical therapy and she is certified in the Burdenko Method levels 1-6. In her spare time Erica is a gymnastics coach.
John Dao-Tran, DPT - Physical Therapist
John completed both his undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science) and graduate degrees (Doctor of Physical Therapy) at Northeastern University in Boston, Ma. He enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and dysfunctions, particularly those affecting runners and triathletes. John joined the Therafit staff in 2009 and is also very passionate about treatment of the spine and plans to enroll in the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, a post graduate residency program for Physical Therapists in 2011. John enjoys spending time with his dog Brewster, mountaineering, endurances races and triathlons as a sponsored athlete of Team Bear Naked.
Paul Berkeley, DPT - Physical Therapist
Paul earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University in 2011. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from Boston University in 2009. Paul enjoys working with patients with a variety of musculoskeletal injuries in the outpatient setting. He enjoys implementing manual therapy and medical exercise therapy into the care of his patients. He also has experience working with patients with balance dysfunction. He is also an avid runner who enjoys racing in local 5Ks, 10Ks, and Half-Marathons.
W. David Fisher, PTA – Physical Therapist Assistant
David graduated from Newbury College in 1985 with an Associates Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He has had over 26 years direct clinical experience in orthopedics and sports and has been employed with Therafit since 1989. David has taken significant coursework in manual therapy including spinal mobilization, muscle energy techniques, gait analysis, aquatic therapy and orthotics fabrication.
Megan Curran, PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Personal Trainer
Megan graduated from Endicott College in 1999 as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She joined the Therafit staff in 2009 and prior to that has worked primarily in out-patient orthopedic environments, but does have extensive experience working on patients with spinal cord injuries, amputees, and a wide variety of neurologic impairments. Megan is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
Damon Amato, ATC, CSCS, EMT - Athletic Trainer / Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Damon graduated from Northeastern University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. Upon graduation, he joined Therafit to be the Head Athletic Trainer at Lowell High School in 2004. He received his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2005. Damon uses his firsthand knowledge from being a college football and baseball player to help train the athletes at Lowell High School to compete at a higher level while ensuring their overall well-being on a full-time basis. His experience has also included volunteering in the medical tent at the Boston Marathon finish line, and working as a Nutrition Manager Consultant on an individual basis.
